We build and repair decks for homeowners in Shoreline and the towns around it. Most of the decks we get called out for were built fine years ago and just never got the maintenance they needed. Rain does more damage here than sun ever will.
We start underneath, at the joists and the ledger board, because that's where the real problems hide even when the surface boards look okay. If the framing is sound we resurface and reseal it, and if it's not, we replace what's failing before we touch a single board on top. That order matters, a deck that looks new but sits on soft joists is just a problem wearing paint.
